Sixty-eight passengers on board Enugu Air from Lagos on Thursday escaped death by the whiskers when the aircraft overshot the runway at the Benin Airport while landing.
Several passengers were however rushed to the hospital having suffered various degrees of injury.
Newsmata.com.ng reports that the flight had been reportedly cleared to land and apparently due to torrential rainfall, overshot the runway.
Some family members who had arrived the airport to receive their loved ones were seen shouting praises to God and rushing the injured to the hospital.
None of the staff of the Enugu Air on ground declined to talk to journalists but a staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who would not want to be identified, said, “I cannot tell you anything because investigation would be carried out by necessary authorities and the reports would be sent to our head office.”
