In what appeared to be an eye-opening tour of projects by the Monday Okpebholo administration in Edo State, controversial Nigerian singer and rapper Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja popularly known as Eedris Abdulkareem, has urged Nigerians to wait for his music to “see and listen” to what it says about the developmental strides of the governor.
Newsmata.com.ng reports that though Abdulkareem of the Nigeria ‘Jagaja’ fame, acknowledged that Governor Okpebholo was performing, he was however quick to add that he would not be silent if he saw anything bad, stressing that he speaks through his music, and looked forward to dropping all that he had experienced in Edo State into a musical video
Promising to come back to Edo for a three-week visit to go round projects and portray it in his musical video to be released later, the radical singer asserted that “If I see bad things, I will speak about it, and if I see good things, my music will carry it”.
Expressing his vindication over his 2004 provocative ‘Nigeria Jagajaga’ album, which was banned on radio by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulkareem recalled that “I sang about Jagajaga about 25 years ago, but today, former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a campaigner of jagajaga”.
Conducted round by Prince Kassim Afegbua, the state’s Commissioner for Information and communication, Abdulkareem said his visit to various parts of the state showed that Governor Okpebholo was performing, scoring him high on infrastructure development.
Projects visited projects included the Sepele Road flyover at Adesuwa junction, the Ramat Park flyover at Ikpoba-Hill, road construction works at NEPA junction, Sapele road, Temboga, amongst others.
Giving his assessment while talking to journalists, Abdulkareem said, “I have gone round Edo State, and I’ve seen what the governor has done for Edo people. I urge you all to wait, see, and listen to what my music says about the developmental strides of Edo State governor.
“I speak with my music. I am presently in Abia State for the past two months doing a music documentary for Governor Alex Otti and will be in Edo State when I am done from Abia State…
“The government in Edo State is on the right track. I will not speak too much. I speak with my music and wait for the music video about Edo development to drop.
“I want to tell Governor Monday Okpebholo thank you for listening to the voice of the people and thank you for developing the state. I am looking forward to dropping all that I have experienced in Edo State into a musical video”.
