The Clerk of the Edo State House of Assembly, Audu Omogbai, is embroiled in age falsification scandal and is facing a three-man ad-hoc committee of the Edo House of Assembly Service Commission for interrogation.
Newsmata.com.ng reports that Omogbai’s invitation by the probe panel followed a petition by some workers who simply identified themselves as Concerned Staff of the Assembly.
Alleging that Omogbai falsified his age to remain in service, the faceless petitioners claimed that the Clerk’s initial appointment dated back to 1993 and that he had exceeded the mandatory 30 years of service.
The petitioners also alleged that the Clerk had passed the mandatory retirement age of 60 years and had been obstructing investigation.
“The Clerk has allegedly withheld official file records, hindering investigations into these matters.
“We humbly request your intervention to investigate these allegations and take appropriate actions to maintain integrity and adherence to regulations within the Edo State House of Assembly.”
The embattled Clerk’s letter of invitation to unravel the truth was signed by the Chairman of the Assembly Commission, Sir Ezehi Igbas.
Omogbai was asked to appear before the three-man ad-hoc committee for an interview session.
He could not be reached for comments.
