Like the prodigal son who who retraced his steps to reunite with his father, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reconciled with his estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike after a make-or-mar meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night.

The duo confirmed the end of their rift to newsmen after emerging from the meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Newsmata.com.ng  reports that the crucial reconciliation meeting was  attended by the suspended Speaker of the House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule and some fellow lawmakers, as well as other key political stakeholders.

‎This is the second time President Tinubu would be intervening in the protracted crisis that culminated in the imposition of emergency rule in the beleaguered state on March 18, 2025, the suspension of the governor and the lawmakers, and the appointment of a sole administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.

Briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, said: “I want to give God the glory that today is the 26th of June 2025, that peace has finally come to the state.

Also speaking, the embattled Fubara,  said: “For me, it is very important that this day has come to be. What we need for the progress of Rivers State is peace.

“By the special grace of God, this night, with the help of Mr. President, and the agreement of the leaders of the state, peace has returned to Rivers State. We will do everything within our power to make sure that we sustain it this time around”.

Both Wike and Fubara were however silent on the terms of settlement.
