Governor Monday Okpebholo
The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has dropped his Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Samson Osagie and replaced him with Roland Itoya Otaru, a senior advocate of Nigeria, SAN.
Newsmata.com.ng reports that this was reflected in a “comprehensive restructuring” of government ministries released on Tuesday by the state government signed by Musa Umar Ikhilor, secretary to the state government, SSG.
The governor, in a minor cabinet reshuffle and allocation of portfolios to new commissioners also posted out Paul Ohonbamu, a lawyer, from the Ministry of Information and Strategy, and replaced him with Prince Kassim Afegbua, who had held the portfolio in the past.
In the statement, Ikhilor explained that “This strategic reform is designed to mirror the structure at the Federal level and ensure the seamless alignment of the Governor’s SHINE Agenda with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR”.
According to the SSG, “In view of this strategic positioning, the Governor has approved the creation of additional Ministries and the revival of some defunct ones, bringing the total number of Ministries in Edo State to twenty-eight (28).
“This restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency, improve coordination across critical sectors, and strengthen the capacity of Government to deliver effectively on its mandate to the people of Edo State”.
