Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to allegations of Israel’s potential involvement in Charlie Kirk’s death, in an appearance on live TV.
Netanyahu was appearing on Newsmax, discussing the ongoing violence in Gaza, before the host surprisingly asked about Kirk’s death, and whether Israel had anything to do with it.
The host said: “Before I let you go, I want you to address one thing. The absurdity of some of the internet rumors that Israel is behind the Charlie Kirk murder… I want you to make a statement.” This comes as investigators have said that they have ‘no idea where the shooter behind the assassination is’.
He responded: “That’s insane. Israel changes the orbit of the moon; Israel pushes the sun… The whole thing is insane, absurd and stupid. I can’t believe people are saying this.”
He continued: “They have no limits. When you hate Jews, you’re willing to say anything. You’ll promote these absurd rumors…
“Charlie Kirk said to me ‘You have to fight the slander. These untruths have consequences’, and he was right.”
He concluded: “We’re fighting against terrorists on the battlefield and we’re winning. And he was fighting on the battlefield of ideas, and he was winning. That’s why they shot him.”
Some online found it to be odd that Netanyahu would even weigh in on this subject, as it was not something that has been suggested by officials.
Popular streamer Hasan Piker simply wrote: “That’s a weird thing to say”, in a post that has been liked 87,000 times at the time of writing.
