A Swedish Nigerian artist, lawyer and political scientist, Kio Amachree, on Sunday, in a strongly worded petition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, called for a probe into the unexplained wealth of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Nyesom Wike, and his immediate removal from office, describing the former Rivers State governor as the “most obvious destabilising factor” in the state.
Newsmata.com.ng reports that in the petition dated February 8, 2026, Amachree said Wike’s current federal posture in Rivers State was “dangerous, provocative, and unnecessary.”
Describing the letter as “a formal petition and a written notice of serious national concern,” Amachree stated that he was writing “in the interest of peace, stability, constitutional order, and justice in Rivers State and the Niger Delta.”
Emphasising that he was acting independently, the petitioner, who said he is resident in Stockholm, Sweden, posited that, “I do not belong to any political party. I have no political ambition. I have no ties to any Nigerian politician. I am not writing on behalf of any political group.”
While warning that Rivers State was being treated unfairly by the Federal Government, he feared that “Rivers State is being pushed toward instability by federal conduct and political interference.”
Contending that there was no justification for heavy federal security presence in the state, Amachree noted that “Rivers State is not Boko Haram territory. Rivers State is not bandit territory. Rivers State is not an insurgency theatre.” According to him, treating Rivers people “as though they are enemies of the state” was “unacceptable.”
The concerned Nigerian identified Wike as the “most obvious destabilising factor,” who “must be removed from federal office immediately and investigated”, stating that “This is a formal demand.”
He also demanded “a full EFCC and ICPC investigation into allegations of corruption, diversion of public funds, abuse of office, and unexplained wealth” against the former governor, while further requesting an “asset and lifestyle audit,” specifically mentioning “his Rolls Royce and other luxury vehicles,” “his properties abroad,” and “any corporate proxies or fronts holding assets on his behalf”. He insisted that “the Nigerian public deserves to know the source of this wealth.”
Raising security concerns, Amachree cited “a recording widely circulated in the public domain, including on TikTok and other platforms,” which he said allegedly showed Wike “threatening to kill a political opponent.”
Wondering “Why has Mr Wike not been arrested, interrogated, or formally investigated for alleged threats of murder when the recording is widely available?”, the petitioner warned that “selective justice destroys nations.”
He also criticised the deployment of federal security forces in Rivers State, urging Tinubu to focus resources on “the North-East” and “the North-West,” where terrorism and banditry persist. He cautioned: “Do not militarise Rivers State for political advantage,” adding that “Rivers State is a producing region, not an enemy zone.”
Amachree also demanded justice over the killing of his cousin, Miss Ibyami Amachree, whom he said was killed by a soldier. He called for the identification of the soldier involved, his unit and chain of command, and “prosecution where evidence supports prosecution”. He warned that “a nation that permits impunity in uniform manufactures future instability”.
Threatening that failure to act would lead to international escalation, Amachree boasted that “I am too well connected to be ignored” warning that if the letter was ignored, he would “use lawful channels and international connections to escalate these concerns.”
Furthermore, he warned the Federal Government against dismissing grievances from the Niger Delta, stating: “The Niger Delta is not a colony. Rivers State is not a pawn. And the people of Rivers are not fools.”
According to Amachree, “If the Federal Government continues to treat Rivers State with disrespect and political manipulation, then the Federal Government is inviting a crisis. History has warned Nigeria before.”
