A man allegedly wielding a “crossbow” has reportedly shot at least two people in a horror scene in Leeds. Police rushed to the Otley Road and declared a major incident after terrifying reports of a man seen with a weapon in the area were made.

An eyewitness reported a man was seen holding a crossbow before a swarm of police and ambulances rushed to the area. Cops said three people were left injured in the horror scene in Headingley, just before 3pm. West Yorkshire Police confirmed to The Mirror that “multiple weapons” were found at the scene.

A local restaurant worker claimed a group of customers rushed inside after spotting a crossbow, according to LeedsLive.

A police statement said: “Police were called to Otley Road, Leeds at 2,47pm today to reports of an ongoing serious incident involving a man seen with weapons. Officers attended and located three people who had suffered injuries which are at this time not being treated as life threatening.

“A male suspect was located and detained. Enquiries are in their initial stages to determine the wider circumstances of what has taken place and further updates will follow. A number of police scenes remain in place and ensuring public safety remains our priority.”

Local restaurant worker Bethany Connelly said: “I was at work at a nearby restaurant and some girls were sitting outside. They asked if they could come in and finish what they were having because they’d seen someone with a crossbow. This was all before the incident, and a few minutes later, we saw ambulances and police rushing down the roads.

“The roads were getting blocked off, and we’d been told by police to keep everyone indoors and away from the area. Police had told our head chef that one girl had been shot and was critical, and another girl had been shot and injured. Then later on, they said he’d been detained.”
