Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is again on the wrong side of the law, arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over alleged defamation and threat to life.

A statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, a superintendent of police (SP) in Ilorin confirmed that Portable is in its custody.

Newsmata.com.ng recalls that the musician in February ran foul of the law and declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command following his alleged involvement in a violent attack on officials from the state ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development who were on assignment around his business premises on February 5, 2025.

He gave himself up to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba Wednesday February 19, 2025, and taken into custody by the Ogun Police command after over two weeks of going into hiding. He was arraigned Thursday February 20, at an Ogun Magistrates Court on a five-count charge including conspiracy, assault, restriction, being armed with cutlasses and guns, and conduct likely to cause harm.

He was granted bail in the sum of N2 million with one surety in like sum and the case was adjourned to March 5, 2025, and thereafter, March 26 to enable the prosecution to merge his charges with those of his workers who had earlier been arraigned.

In the present case, the Kwara Police said the ZaZoo crooner “was arrested following a petition received from one Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as “Osupaha”.
“Police detectives in Kwara command have taken lawful steps in line with due process to investigate the allegations.

“The petition borders on serious allegations which includes criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and the use of abusive and insulting words.

“In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin.

“Acting on this warrant, operatives from the command proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun, on Saturday, where the suspect was apprehended at about 19:25hrs”.

Ejire-Adeyemi said Portable’s was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties, adding, “He is currently in custody and arrangements are being made to charge him to court without delay”.
While expressing the Kwara police command’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice was served in a fair and transparent manner, the statement urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information.
The police spokesperson assured that further updates on the case would be communicated as events unfold.
