Amid allegation of sexual harassment leveled against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Kogi Central at the National Assembly, Mrs. Ekaette Akpabio, has risen in stout defence of her husband, dismissing it as “a figment of wild imagination”.
Addressing journalists on Friday on the sex scandal, the former first lady of Akwa-Ibom State who vouched for her husband’s character as a disciplined and jovial man who respects women, said she would seek legal redress. She said the allegations were false and unfounded.
In an interview on Arise TV Morning Show on Friday, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had linked her travails in the Senate to her refusal to succumb to Senator Akpabio’s sexual advances.
Reacting to the allegation, Mrs. Akpabio acknowledged the cordial relationship between both families, disclosed that she was present at their family residence on the said December 8, 2023 when the sexual advances allegedly took place, stressing that their families had maintained a long-standing relationship, even before Natasha’s marriage.
While urging women to desist from making false accusations, Mrs. Akpabio praised her husband’s discipline, noting his track record of supporting women’s inclusion in government, even before becoming the Senate President.
