The burial arrangements for the late elder statesman and nationalist, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, have been announced by the family.
The Afenifere leader will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode in Ogun State.
Adebanjo, who was born on April 10, 1928, passed on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96.
According to a statement signed by his family, on Monday, the funeral activities would commence with a Day of Tributes and a Service of Songs on Wednesday, April 30, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
This will be followed by a wake on Friday, May 2, at his country home in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The final burial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, after which he will be interred.
A thanksgiving service will also be held at the same venue on Sunday, May 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm.
The family expressed gratitude for the support and prayers they had received, and called on well-wishers to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of Chief Adebanjo.
The statement partly reads: “We covet your prayers for the family and your professional support as we continue with the preparations to give him a most befitting burial.
“We also look forward to your esteemed presence at all the events. Please accept the assurances of our highest regards.”
