Like the remorseful ‘prodigal son’, Comrade Odih Rowland, former director-general of the Atiku Youth Wing Campaign Organisation who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has retraced his steps and returned to his former party, with apologies.
In a letter dated August 27, 2025, titled “My Sincere Apologies”, addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Rowland admitted his “grave mistake” in leaving the party, acknowledging that the party had been his political home for over two decades.
Newsmata.com.ng reports that Rowland had on August 1, 2025, left the PDP to pitch tent with the ADC opposition coalition and join the move for “political realignment” as part of the game plan to unseat President Bola Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress party in 2027.
Rowland said, “I am writing to express my sincerest apologies for my recent decision to decamp from PDP to ADC on August 1, 2025. I realize now that I made a grave mistake by leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a party that has nurtured my political career for 24 years”.

While praising the PDP for what he described as its “values of truth, justice, and internal democracy” as well as its ability to resolve internal crises, Rowland said the leadership of the party’s National Chairman had further convinced him that the PDP remained the only viable platform to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections.
He said, “I am particularly impressed by the leadership of our National Chairman, which demonstrates PDP’s capacity to win the 2027 elections. I firmly believe my impact will be more significant in PDP than in any other party”.
The repentant Rowland disclosed that he resolved to return to the party with his supporters after consultations with leaders of his ward, local government, state, and the national leadership of the PDP.
According to him, “Following the urging of my ward, local government, state, and national leaders, I have decided to return to PDP with my supporters. I pledge to work tirelessly for the party’s victory in 2027”.
Meanwhile, Rowland was on Thursday welcome back into the PDP family at its National Headquarters in Abuja by officials of the party.
