Former President Joe Biden responded to well-wishers early Monday following the announcement that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone.
“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” Biden wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The message was accompanied by a selfie of the 82-year-old former president and his wife, former first lady Dr. Jill Biden, along with their cat, Willow.
Biden’s personal office released a statement on Sunday saying he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer on Friday, “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,”
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” the statement said. “The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
It comes just days after a spokesperson for Biden said the former president was recently evaluated for a “small nodule” discovered on his prostate. (Newsweek)
