The Minnesota Timberwolves guard used ‘inappropriate language’ towards a basketball fan

Anthony Edwards had landed himself a huge fine following remarks he made to Los Angeles Lakers fans.

The LA Lakers and Edwards’ team, Minnesota Timberwolves, went head-to-head over the weekend.

While the Lakers arguably has some of the biggest names in basketball on its team, it was the Timberwolves that proved victorious on Saturday night (April 19) and won 117-95.

But the win will be slightly tainted for Edwards who has since been slapped with a $50,000 fine by the NBA.

In a statement shared to social media yesterday (April 22), the basketball association said: “Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 for directing inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture toward a fan, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations.”

It went on: “The incident occurred with 4:33 remaining in the third quarter of the Timberwolves’ 117-95 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series on April 19 at Crypto.com Arena.”

In regard to what Edwards said, well, there were a few things. When one fan directed abuse at Rudy Gobert, the Timberwolves guard stepped in and replied: “He got $200 million.”

Gobert then corrected Edwards and said that he actually has $300 million.

Then Edwards was asked ‘where yo’ kids at?’ amid the ongoing paternity drama he’s embroiled in with Ayesha Howard.

In total, it’s believed that the Timberwolves star has fathered four kids, including a daughter with his longtime girlfriend Shannon Jackson.

When the fan continued to heckled the basketball stars, Edwards went on to say ‘my d**k bigger than yours’ while grabbing his crotch.

Edwards’ behavior hasn’t impressed people online. One person said: “There’s lots of kids in the crowd man needs to grow up!”

Echoing similar sentiments, another person wrote: “You have to be better than that young man. Too many young children look up to you regardless if you want to be a role model or not.”

“Classy,” penned a third. “Can’t remember the last NBA game I watched. Because of guys like this.”

Someone else suggested that Edwards was ‘insecure’ as another said that Edwards seemingly isn’t bothered about landing himself any fines from the NBA.

UNILAD have approached Edwards’ representation for comment.
