Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has initiated likely mend-fencing with the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly, inviting the hitherto 27 estranged members to a meeting at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

The invitation, issued from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, was the first time Fubara had formally acknowledged Amaewhule as Speaker of the Assembly.

Dated March 7, the invitation referred to a letter from the governor on March 5, 2025, acknowledging the Supreme Court’s judgement.

Issues to come up at the meeting include the provision of appropriate facilities for the Assembly’s sittings, settling outstanding remuneration and allowances, presenting the state budget, and addressing other important matters for the state’s development.
