Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, leader of the Ijaw Nation and a leading light in Pan Niger Delta Forum, (PANDEF) has died, aged 97 years. The elder statesman and politician died Monday night in Abuja.
The former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South leader’s death was confirmed in a terse statement on Tuesday signed by his younger brother, Prof. C. C. Clark and son, Penawei Clark, for the children.
Chief Clark’s death came on the heels of the exit of another enigmatic elder statesman and co-founder of the Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who died at his Lekki home in Lagos on Friday February 14, 2025, at the age of 96 years.
Born May 25, 1927, the man, popularly called E.K. Clark, hailed from Kiagbodo in Burutu local government area of Delta State.
The statement by the family read: “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday, 17th February 2025.
“The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”
