Respite may soon come the way of motorists and commuters on the Benin-Auchi Expressway especially with the yuletide season around the corner as the federal government has commenced remedial works on the problematic Ekpoma axis of the road.

Newsmata recalls that the deplorable state of the road had been a nightmare to Nigerians with travellers often stranded on the road for long hours, even days especial during festive seasons when traffic is high.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who inspected the road on Friday, was full of gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for matching his words with action in attending to the road.

Accompanied by the state chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Jarret Tenebe, and other top government officials, expressed satisfaction at the level of work done which he described as impressive.

The Governor said he felt honoured and happy that his party, the APC, was bringing good governance and the dividends of democracy to Edo people and Nigerians in general.

According to the governor, “I am very honoured and happy seeing this road now with the work going on. This is how to know a man who is working for his country. The President promised that he will do this road as the road had been abandoned for years. The President has matched his words with actions and today, Esan people and Edo people in general are happy with this development. The road is now passable.

“We thank the President for what he is doing for Edo people which includes fixing this road. I will continue to monitor this road and what is going on here.

“The President had asked me about the road when I met him. I told him that the project was ongoing. I am sure the President will see and hear about what is going on here. I thank him well for this. As for the job here, we are all happy and the people are really happy about the development.”
